Guillaume J.A. Bresso, PhD

His work spans extensive fieldwork and scholarly research at key sites including Palenque, Joya de Cerén, Yagul, Mitla, and Pre-Inca contexts in Bolivia. He focuses particularly on Maya writing systems, iconography, cosmology, and the political organization of Mesoamerican societies.

His research has been published and presented in academic venues, with contributions referenced on HAL and Google Scholar, as well as in the Anuario Americanista Europeo.

Guillaume J.A. Bresso specializes in the authentication, dating, and provenance research of artworks from Maya, Olmec, Mixtec, Teotihuacan, Chupícuaro, and Colima cultures. His methodology combines close iconographic and stylistic analysis with a deep knowledge of ancient techniques and scientific methods — including thermoluminescence, mass spectrometry, and anthracology — carried out in collaboration with leading laboratories.

This integrated approach allows for conclusions grounded in multiple lines of evidence, always respecting the highest standards of international due diligence and compliance.

• 2012: Scientific inventory of Maya funerary masks for the jade masks exhibition at the Pinacothèque de Paris, where the pieces were studied and documented.
